Forget About Love
It's time to leave boys, my heart will follow
I hate to say it but maybe tomorrow
I'll forget about love
I'm not worried, it's only lonely
I'll be okay but if only
I forget about love
I can't afford
Another time
I won't forget
I need a change, a good long vacation
Away from here and then I'll arrange to
Forget about love
Somewhere new, blame it on my heart
Somewhere new and then I can start to
Forget about love
Next time
I won't forget
I will be sure
But it's a fire you can't miss
What you want but not like this
And I know the reasons that we play
Love's what you want but you must pay
One more time, oh no never
A promise to myself
And next time I'd better just
Forget about love
So come on friends won't you say something please
If you see me bend or weak in the knees
Say "Forget about love"
Forget about love
forget about love
Enough is enough
Say forget about love

I Remember
I heard him tell me once
What he really wants to do
Is to cut away from where he's at
To be alone with you
And concentrate his attentions
On your needs with his love
And perhaps to see his reflection
In your eyes would be enough
Oh that's devotion
I remember that emotion
But maybe you won't see it
Or believe that he is true
I know just how you think, love
I remember me and you
But perhaps now fortune's falling
At last them on the side
And you said that you were lonely
Perhaps now it's the time
Oh he's devoted
I remember that emotion
Sentimental fortress crumbles
Sentimental fortress falls
You should let them go
Held too long
Somebody loves you
Somebody cares
Somebody wants you
I remember too
What's wrong with passion?
And never mind the chains
Forget about your losses
You said it's time to change
Will you listen when I tell you
I believe his aim is true
Then believe it is my wish, love
Cause I remember me and you
Oh, he's devoted
I remember that emotion

Lucky World
I'm gonna change tomorrow
Learn a new way to walk
And if l really want to work hard
Gonna find a new way to talk
Lately I've been so restless
It‘s nothing you can see
So if I really do this thing
Gonna end up with a brand new me
Oh, you lucky world
Oh darling I'm so thirsty
I've never felt this dry
But there's nothing in this bottle
To answer the question why
So I'm gonna change tomorrow
Be different when I rise
I'm gonna get better
You're gonna be surprised
Oh, you lucky world
I'm gonna be happy
I'm gonna start clean
I'm gonna lose these blues
Quit being mean
I'm gonna smile
Gonna start new
Be different than today
Oh lucky you
Oh, you lucky world

City Life
I think about leaving here for the country almost every day
Wondering about a future and this city life
The babies grown and jumping almost every single night
And even lately I know for me, played loud feels right
I don't get it
This all used to feel just fine
I belonged and it was mine
Something new every night
Nothing wrong, just city life
Now fewer friends are calling
But I have learned it's okay and how to let them go
Still like to dance the tango
Just move a little slow
Dressed this way for the cold
But sometimes it's lovely
It's everything I need
The best friend I know
So okay, I'm just being sentimental
It's not so very special
Just can't help but try
It's just this city life
Who's in control
Nobody's home and I'm calling
Been alone too damn long
And I'm failing
City life
And we're calling
Thinking twice
'Bout city life

Daddy's come home drunk today
I saw it how he's walking
As the cabby drove away
But we've done this lots before
Pull the shades and lock the door
When daddy's home from drinking
Pretend everything's okay
Just gotta be quiet and play
Daddy's come home drunk today
So I don't have to go to school
Get to watch TV all day
Cause we've done this lots before
Pull the shades and lock the door
He lays in his room and he's talking
And I'm not really bored
I tiptoe across the floor
Daddy's come home drunk today
And I laid awake all night
Praying he would be all right
But we've done this lots before
Pull the shades and lock the door
I'll call the school and say
That we are all okay
Cause we've done this lots before
Pull the shades and lock the door
And I'll sit quiet and play
Be good for my daddy today
Extra good for my daddy today

The Ballad of Molly and Shelly
Here's a little song you might have heard before
'Bout two wandering gals who walked in a door
With everything new and everything strange
They just got into town, don't know nobody's name
I met'em, in a little bar where I was playing my songs
Said I remind them of the music back home
Wanted me to play all night, make everything right
While they tried to drink all the beer in the bar that night
Molly says she's homesick
for New Orleans and more
Swears that she is lonely
Wonders what she come here for
Says she's going home
Well they lived in Louisiana a little too long
'Course it's a natural way to feel after Mardi Gras
So what the bell, what the heck
They packed up a m and they headed west
They drove all night and every single day
Adding up the miles to make a getaway
But that's okay cause if you gotta go
Seattle's 'bout as far as you can get on any road
Now Shelly's feeling crazy
Thinks she might have been here before
Remembers some old heartache
And wonders what she's come back for
Says she's going home
Everyone looked as they walked in the room
Electric orange pants and their see-through shirts
Well I stared too 'cause I saw it in their eyes
They were out to get done twice as fast as wise
Counting loose change and dancing' cross the floor
Singing all my songs that they never heard before
But that's all right, they were sweet and nice
They made a lot of friends at the bar that night
Now Molly and Shelly are homesick
They don't want to be alone
Think they might do something dangerous
So they wanted me to take them both home
So I took'em to my home
So into the night, we drank a lot more
Telling tall tales and some I never heard before
We laughed and we talked, we talked till we cried
Adventure at home had never felt so right
But nothing else happened though yes I must admit
I have an active imagination and I worked it out a bit
But that's all right, I found something nice
I made two friends and I made them both for life
Molly and Shelly are gone now
And this place is not the same
But they both taught me about dreaming
And what you have to give away
I'll learn to give away

Sitting there at home you'll find him
Waiting all alone I know
He can't go out and face the demolition derby time
And there's just too much noise
The door is locked the lights all on
The fire burning brightly, hey but
'Round the comers are the shadows
Waiting there to pull him down and swallow
And I know
He called to say so
So far, it's 13 days
Still it's just not long for such a change
You feel so hollow
So cold
But I said try it for awhile
just one more day to get away
If you could add another on I bet
The worst would start to fade
Ah yes, but I know
It's hard
Hard to let go
It's a chain of fire
And dungeon days
Ain't got nothing left
So get away
Saw my friend go off the edge
Not so long ago
That mean old Jones had got him by the throat
A choking stranglehold
I heard him crying
Wanting help
So I said it takes time
But ask for more
You even know how long
Can you spend what you can't afford
Are you so lucky
So bold
Ah but I know
It's a chain of fire
And dungeon days
Ain't got nothing left
So get away

Tornado Alley
My wandering had taken me far from my home
I met a pretty woman said she's fired of being alone
Well one thing led to another
You know how things go
So we packed her up and headed back
To my little Texas home
Well I told her once and I told her twice
It's the best that I could do
Life in tornado alley is where I live, don't be confused
But she was quite insistent, professed to me her love
I warned her where I lived
Now she's moved here and it's done
Storm seasons always come, storm seasons go
Never seems to stay the same but the wind always blows
Uncomfortable summer, cold in winter times
Very, very few moments when everything's just right
But me, I've always lived here
Yes I've been born and raised
It's funny what you can get used to
If you take the time and don't count the days
It's mostly just flat land, not much to see
And I know she's bored and probably blames it all on me
And I'm sure it is quite different, not what she thought
Tornado alley's not a dream, but it's sure as hell what she got
Then of course there come a time a storm came roaring through
And I seen the took in her eyes, wondering
what the bell she got herself in to
With nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
From a freight train running through the middle of a room
Just want out alive
But me, I've always lived here
Yes I've been born and raised
It's funny what you can get used to
If you take the time and don't count the days
Well after that, things changed, she said something about the fail
And how the waters rushed and roared, I heard a coyote call
On and on, long stories, of places I'd never seen
She'd get that faraway look in her eyes that did not include me
Maybe I should have known, there's something about this place
And unlike the wind that blows through here, she's gone without a trace
Well me, I just go on, but back to being alone
Tornado alley's where I live and have always called my home
But me, I've always lived here
Yes I've been born and raised
It's funny what you can get used to
If you take the time and don't count the day

Like Raymond Carver
Turn the page, I guess it's time to go
And yes it makes me sad but I guess you know
I'm just a wanderer, passing through
Dangerous to hold and that's the truth
One more time perhaps, I'll be back through
One more time around this town, but not too soon
But there I guess I've said enough
Don't look back, just call it love
Say goodbye but tenderly
Say it once for you and me
I know it's done, you know it's time
Like a Raymond Carver tale
But this one's mine
Stay love, stay close
Kiss me one more time
And then I'll go
But there I guess I've said enough
If you look back, it was love
Say goodbye but tenderly
Say goodbye to you and me
